I go through a mad faze during the summer for nail polishes, why?
I haven’t
a clue. It’s just something I do every summer, but then comes winter my nails
are bare. Strange but’s that’s just me!
This year
I made the decision not to spend a whole lot of cents on my craze as every year
I like the look of a colour on the stand, get home and hate it on my nails and
after spending anything from €5 to €10 a bottle I said “NOT THIS YEAR”.
So this
summer I went for some of the lower cost brand, “Essence Colour & Go” jumped from the display stand at one of my
local chemist. Oh Lord the colour range danced in front of my eyes from bright
pinks to dark reds, glitter sparkled among them with yellows, blues and greens
too.
I went
for just two, the 180 Its Raining Men and 173 Over the Rainbow.
In all
honesty I’m not disappointed in what I picked. The application brush is flat
and tapered but not too wide with medium length bristles, which for me I prefer
as I find it a lot easier to use then the long narrow ones. The formula is
thick and quick drying with a high gloss shine almost like a gel finish that
dries to the touch in about two to three minutes max.
I could
have gotten away with just one coat with the 173 Over the Rainbow, but
preferred the more solid look from two coats. I know you can’t see this in the
pictures, pity because when the light hits this colour its changes from an ice
blue to a shimmer lilac.
The 180
Raining Men surely needs
the two coats to gain the full impact, one coat was somewhat transparent, rare
for such a deep colour. It also has tiny shimmer particles giving it a
beautiful sparkle. Both gave a very shinny high gloss finish look without the
need for a top coat that was chip-free for a whole day.
Tried it
with a top coat and it lasted almost three days before the chipping started. I
would however highly recommend using a base coat, because the dark colour (180)
stained my natural nail plate and we all know how much it’s a right pain in the
a## to get rid of stains even with light buffing.
I used
the Essence
Better than Gel Nails Top Coat for
the extra chip-free long wear and even using this on its own without a colour
is nice.
Over all
I liked the polishes and Yes I would recommend them to anyone, for under €2 a
bottle you could afford to have a different colour every day.
Since
trying these two colours I have also picked up 149
Hello Marshmallow, one of those colours I like on the stand and
hated on my nails, also 172 Splash, 162 Dare it Nude which I have yet to try and as my
nails are weak at the moment I picked up the Ultra Strong Nail Hardener too. So drop by this way soon to find out
if my nails improved or not.
